On the one hand, we have Bancontact/Mister Cash: the leading payments system in Belgium. One the other, we have Ogone: the leading provider of online payment solutions in our country. So it's only logical that these two innovative leaders have opted to be partners for the commercial launch of the mobile Bancontact/Mister Cash app. This partnership will enable thousands of e-commerce sites in Belgium and abroad to offer a simple and innovative payment system to their customers. This will further accelerate the progress of electronic payments among Belgian consumers with a smartphone, through a simplified and secured payment experience on their computer, tablet, and smartphone.

Bancontact/Mister Cash today announced the launch of its app for mobile and online payments. Ogone is one of the main partners of this launch. "Ogone is today the undisputed leader in the e-and m-commerce market, and since the beginning our most important partner in this domain. Our partnership has been going on for years now. The dynamic and innovative strength of this pioneer are still present. We welcome Ogone’s decision to add the new Bancontact/Mister Cash mobile application to their product offering. As a result, Quick access to our new mobile product is guaranteed to the many merchants in Belgium, “says Kris De Ryck, CEO Bancontact Mister Company.

As Belgian and international leader in online payment, Ogone is delighted to be able to offer this innovative solution to thousands of Belgian e-commerce sites that use its multi-channel payment platform to manage and secure their online payments. This app should further accelerate the marked increase in the number of payments made by smartphones and tablets.

"For us, this partnership was the logical next step, given that Bancontact/Mister Cash and Ogone basically wrote the rulebook on payment systems in Belgium," says Jurgen Verstraete, Managing Director of Ogone. The commercial launch of this new app is the fruit of an association between innovative partners that are leaders in their respective markets, and is aimed at improving the online purchasing experience for consumers. We wish to stimulate sales for e-commerce sites by adapting our systems to the consumer's devices and means of payment."

Very simple to install and use, the Bancontact/Mister Cash app uses QR codes to operate. These codes, which suit mobile use perfectly, dramatically decrease the number of steps necessary in the purchase process, while guaranteeing payment security. The app specifically offers two brand-new payment possibilities:

  • it allows person-to-person payments, provided that both users download and install the app on their smartphone or tablet and that they have an Internet connection and a Bancontact/Mister Cash bank card. This is a practical way to reimburse a friend, for example, for an amount he or she has lent you;
  • also, it adds a new solution that is both practical and reliable to the range of electronic payments by Bancontact/Mister Cash, whether physically in a store or on the web. From now on, these purchases can also be made using the mobile app, with a maximum of EUR 250 per transaction and EUR 250 per day. These limits are sufficient to cover 96% of current ecommerce transactions.

"With the launch of this new app, we are proving that Belgium continues to be a leader in terms of innovative mobile payment methods. Secured payments, using a QR code and mobile apps, are ushering in a radical change in the simplification and stimulation of bank transactions for users, whether they are customers or retailers," said Olivier Gillin, Product Manager at Ogone.

For Bancontact/Mister Cash, it is a great advantage to partner with Ogone, as this partnership gives Bancontact/Mister Cash access to thousands of Belgian e-commerce sites that use the Ogone platform to manage their online payments. Thanks to the partnership with Ogone, Bancontact/Mister Cash is also able to offer its mobile payment solution to international e-commerce sites with a presence in Belgium, the great majority of which also use the Ogone platform.

For e-commerce sites that manage their online payments thanks to Ogone, the integration of this new means of payment will, as usual, be quick and easy. For them, the Bancontact/Mister Cash mobile app has simply just added itself as one more option in addition to the over 250 means of payment that are already available on the Ogone multi-channel payment platform.
